The Oman Cancer Association (OCA), in collaboration with Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC) in Chennai, India, and Global Treatment Services (GTS), successfully organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session at Intercity Hotel in Muscat.
The theme of the session was "Thyroid Cancer and Leveraging Technology and Biology in the Treatment of Challenging Solid Tumours", aiming to enhance local medical expertise and encourage discussions about the latest advancements in oncology.
The session was moderated by Dr Mohammed bin Abdullah al Lamki, Senior Consultant in Endocrinology, who led an engaging discussion focusing on the challenges and opportunities in cancer treatment in Oman.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Dr Srinivas Chilukuri, Senior Consultant in Radiation Oncology and Lead Consultant at APCC. His presentation highlighted the evolution of cancer treatment through Proton Therapy, showcasing advanced technologies and real-world case studies that demonstrated its effectiveness in managing complex cancers.
The CME session sparked meaningful discussions on patient awareness, accessibility to modern treatment options and the future of cancer care in Oman.
Both OCA and GTS expressed their gratitude to Apollo Proton Cancer Centre for their dedication to professional education and international collaboration.
The initiative is a part of the Oman Cancer Association's ongoing commitment to advancing cancer care through medical education, cross-border partnerships and capacity building among healthcare professionals in the region.
