

AMMAN: The Omani Karate National Team is participating in the West Asia Karate Championship 2025, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, August 24-25, 2025, under the leadership of Shaikh Salem bin Hamad al Mahrouqi, Chairman of the Oman Karate Committee and Member of the Majlis Ash’shura — representing the Wilayat of Adam, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The delegation includes the administrator Faris al Busaidy, the national coach Ali al Shabibi, and players Saeed al Shabibi, Idris al Batrani, Khalid al Jabri, Alawi Ba’amer, Al Mukhtar al Amri and Mohammed al Shabibi.
A group of elite Omani international and Asian referees also participated in managing the competition, including Youssef al Siyabi, Suleiman al Hinai, Hilal al Abdali, Mohammed al Hinai, Tarek al Raisi, Khalifa al Rasbi, Adel al Hinai, Zulfa al Kanadi and Al Munther al Alawi; and they attended the referees’ course held alongside the championship to enhance their skills and learn the latest international regulations and standards.
On the sidelines of the championship, coaches Ali al Shabibi and Waleed al Mahmoudi participated in a coaches’ course aimed at developing training skills and enhancing the technical competencies of the participating coaches.
Additionally, the West Asia Karate Union Members’ Meeting was held, with the participation of Shaikh Salem bin Hamad al Mahrouqi, the union’s agenda and key points contributing to the development of karate in the region and the promotion of cooperation among member countries were discussed.
The participation of the Omani team comes as part of its efforts to achieve outstanding results reflecting the development of karate in the Sultanate of Oman and to strengthen its presence in regional and international championships.
