For Ammar Al Rashdi, Oman’s wilderness has always held a magnetic pull. Through his venture, August Camp Oman, he has transformed that passion into a curated outdoor experience where guests swap routines for starlit skies, Omani hospitality, and the comfort of a fully prepared camp.

“I have always had a deep love for Oman’s natural beauty and wanted to make it easier for people to enjoy it without the stress of preparing everything themselves,” says Ammar, Owner and Founder. “From the very start, my goal was to remove the pressure from guests so they could focus entirely on the experience itself - relaxing, exploring, and connecting with nature.”

What began as a simple idea has grown into a mobile luxury camping service that blends authenticity with convenience. Using a specially designed off-road trailer, Ammar and his team transform remote, facility-free locations into welcoming retreats equipped with traditional tents, clean toilets, solar-powered electricity, and an outdoor kitchen serving freshly prepared Omani meals.

“Guests sleep under a blanket of stars, enjoy live BBQ and traditional Omani food, and feel the peace of nature without sacrificing basic comforts,” he explains. “The trailer is not for sleeping but a support unit - it keeps us mobile, organised, and clean while preserving the traditional camping experience.”

Even the name carries meaning. “In Oman, August marks the start of a subtle shift in weather - it’s not the peak of summer, nor yet winter. That transition represents new possibilities,” Ammar says. “On a personal level, August feels intense, energetic, and transformative - much like the spirit of adventure we aim to bring to our camps.”

From the moment guests arrive, they are welcomed with dates, coffee, and genuine Omani hospitality before embarking on guided hikes, cultural storytelling, or stargazing around the fire. “Omani hospitality is at the core of August Camp. We treat every guest like a friend, not a customer,” Ammar shares. “Meals are homemade, inspired by traditional recipes. We share stories, offer insight into our customs, and ensure guests feel welcomed, safe, and respected.”

Sustainability also lies at the heart of the ethos. “We camp light and clean, never leave waste behind, and use eco-conscious setups,” Ammar explains. “Supporting local suppliers is another way we give back. Our team respects nature and educates guests on leaving the environment untouched.”
