MUSCAT: The Oman Golf Association (OGA) announced its active participation in the SABCO Sports Park Summer Camp, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) throughout July and August. With more than 300 children attending daily, this initiative has become a cornerstone of youth sports in Oman — and a unique platform to introduce and grow the game of golf.

As part of the camp’s activities, the OGA created an engaging indoor golf experience using the Unleash Your Drive programme, designed to make the fundamentals of golf fun and accessible. For hundreds of young participants, these sessions marked their very first swing at the sport, guided by OGA development coaches and, in a special highlight, supported by members of the Oman National Junior Golf Teams.

The involvement of Oman’s junior players not only inspired the campers, but also highlighted the OGA’s mission to nurture leadership, teamwork and mentorship through sport. This hands-on approach demonstrated the clear pathway available for Omani youth to progress in golf — from grassroots entry to elite competition.

This impactful initiative was made possible with the generous support of Renaissance Services, a steadfast partner in junior golf development. Their commitment has been instrumental in providing access, resources and opportunities for young talent across the nation.

The OGA remains committed to expanding its junior programmes, building stronger ties with schools and broadening the presence of golf throughout Oman. Initiatives like the SABCO Summer Camp are not only about fun and discovery, but also represent a long-term investment in shaping the future of golf in Oman.
