Oman to begin campaign at Arab School Championship in Jordan

MUSCAT: Oman’s school futsal team will kick off their campaign at the Arab School Sports Championship with a highly anticipated opening match against Libya on Wednesday. The match will start at 7 pm (Muscat time) at Hussain College Stadium, which is the official venue for all futsal games.


Later, the young players will meet Saudi Arabia on Sunday before concluding their group stage with a clash against hosts Jordan on Tuesday. According to the tournament’s organising committee, the futsal competition for both boys and girls will be played in a double round-robin format, with each team facing their opponents twice. The team that secures the highest number of points will win the title. As many as four teams are competing in the futsal category, including Saudi Arabia, Libya, Oman and Jordan.


Meanwhile, Oman’s 3x3 basketball school team will begin their challenge on Thursday with a match against Saudi Arabia. They will meet Jordan (B) on Saturday and wrap up their campaign against Jordan (A) on Monday. All basketball matches are scheduled to take place at the Jordan Tennis Club.


As part of final preparations, Oman’s futsal team held their second training session under the guidance of head coach Salman al Mediouli and assistant coach Sultan al Balushi, focusing on tactical setups and team coordination. The basketball squad, led by coach Nidhal al Mughairi, also completed their second training session on Tuesday, sharpening skills and boosting team chemistry ahead of the tip-off.


The Arab School Sports Championship, hosted in Amman under the supervision of the Jordanian and Arab School Sports Federations, featured student-athletes from seven teams, including Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon and Palestine.
