Muscat: Oman Meterology has urged motorists using the Sultan Said bin Taimour Road (Adam-Thumrait road), as there are chances of rainfall of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by thunder, over the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar.

Rain alerts between August 18 and 20 for North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Ad Dakhiliyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar Governorates. Rains of moderate intensity can cause minor traffic disruptions.

Stay informed of changing weather conditions.

Use caution when moving, especially in vulnerable areas.

It may be noted that nearly 70% of visitors to the Dhofar governorate during Khareef season travel by road, including those from neighbouring countries.

Oman Met said that the wet conditions will continue until the end of this week, with chances of heavy rains in some governorates.

The Sultanate will be affected by a trough of low-pressure systems, with clouds continuing to flow and form over most governorates and scattered rain showers, sometimes thunderstorms, over the Al Wusta, Dhofar, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, and parts of Al Dakhiliyah governorates, which may lead to flowing of wadis, high waves on the coasts of the Arabian Sea,  active downwinds and reduced horizontal visibility.
