EDINBURGH: Warrant Officer Thani bin Mohammed bin Khamis al Amri, member of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) band, won 6th place in the baton-bearing competition at Grade 5 of the World Music Competition in Scotland.


The competition, held in the Scottish city of Perth, saw the participation of 147 bands from different countries around the world, within 3B category, in preparation for the World Championship that will be held later in Glasgow, Scotland.


Grade 5 included bagpipe and drum competitions, the performance of musical pieces, military discipline and individual baton competitions.


The band has so far won 16 cups and awards across the cities of Renfrew, Dumbarton, Dundonald, Bridge of Allan and Perth. It will conclude its participation in Glasgow, with the World Bands Competition (World Music Competition). — ONA
