SALALAH: The three-day Autumn Forum for Higher Education Institutions opened at the Grand Mall in Salalah on Thursday. Organised by the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate in cooperation with the Career Guidance Platform, the event concludes today, August 10.
Coinciding with the Dhofar Khareef Season, the forum targets two key audiences. They are the twelfth-grade students exploring university majors and visitors during the tourist season interested in pursuing higher studies.
Ali bin Abdullah al Buraiki, Director of the Career Guidance Platform, explained that the event features introductory sessions on the unified admissions system and registration procedures, alongside interactive competitions and prizes to engage participants.
The forum aims to enhance academic awareness among students and parents about available university majors and educational opportunities, while facilitating direct interaction with representatives from participating higher education institutions.
Institutions taking part include the University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Salalah, Dhofar University, Nizwa University, the National University of Science and Technology, Salalah Vocational College, Oman College of Health Sciences, International College of Engineering and Technology, Scientific College of Design, Majan University College; and Al Buraimi University College.
Visitors can learn about programmes, admission requirements, scholarships and student services.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to empower students to make informed academic and career choices; and to strengthen ties between educational institutions and the local community. — ONA
