MUSCAT, July 19
The Oman Football Association (OFA) announced the new season 2025/2026 will kick off on Saturday with the highly anticipated Super Cup match between Seeb Club, reigning champions of the Omantel League and Al Shabab Club, holders of His Majesty’s Cup. The prestigious curtain-raiser will be held at Al Saada Sports Stadium in Salalah.
The decision to host the match in Salalah followed the city’s successful organisation of the Super Cup in its 2022 edition, in which Seeb defeated Al Nahdha 2-0 at the same venue. The southern city offers favourable weather conditions during the summer months and boasts ready infrastructure, making it a prime destination for top-level domestic football.
The Super Cup match is expected to provide both teams with critical match practice ahead of the upcoming Four-Team Tournament in Salalah, which will run from July 27 to August 3. The high-profile pre-season event will feature Seeb, Al Shabab, Al Nahdha (Omantel League runners-up) and Salalah-based giants Dhofar and Al Nasr. The tournament will offer competitive preparation for clubs representing Oman in external and domestic competitions.
Al Shabab Club, led by head coach Hassan Rustam, kicked off their preparations for the new season on July 10. The team has seen a mix of new signings and contract renewals as they aim to build on their recent success. Among the new arrivals is Jameel al Yahmadi, returning to his team after some successful seasons in Qatar, alongside Juma al Habsi and Salah al Dohani. Key renewals for Al Shabab include: Hatim al Roushdi, Sami al Ajmi, Musab al Maamari, Yaqdhan al Shanfari, Islam al Hinai, Rashid al Hosni, AbdulMalik al Badri, Mohammed al Ghafri, Yousef al Malki, Mahmood al Khusaibi, Ahed al Hudaifi, Mahmood Mabrook, Majid al Saadi, Badar al Alawi and Yassin al Shyiadi.
On the other side, Seeb Club have begun their pre-season under newly appointed Romanian coach Valeriu Tița, starting official training on July 6. The club is focused on squad stability and reinforcement as they look to defend their league crown. Among the club's new signings are: Marwan al Siyabi who returned after a season with Al Nasr, Abdullah Fawaz, Oman national team midfielder signed for one year, and Musab al Shaqsi, striker from Bahla Club. Renewed contracts were handed to several key players, including: Mohammed al Musallami, Ali al Busaidy, Tamim al Balushi, Ahmed al Rawahi, Zaher al Aghbari and Motasim al Wahaibi.
