Muscat:The Court of Appeal in Ibri has issued a ruling in a case involving the illegal hunting of an Arabian ibex, a protected wildlife species in Oman.

The court ordered a prison sentence and a financial penalty against the individual involved, along with the payment of all related expenses.

The Environment Authority stressed the importance of protecting Oman’s rich biodiversity and natural habitats, urging the public to avoid harming wildlife or disturbing the environment to prevent legal consequences.

The Arabian ibex is classified as an endangered species and receives special protection under Omani environmental law.
