Oman’s economy grows 2.5% in Q1

MUSCAT: Oman’s gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices grew by 2.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2025, reaching RO 9.43 billion at market prices, up from RO 9.20 billion during the same period last year.


Preliminary figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) attribute this growth to a 4.4 per cent increase in the value added by non-oil activities, which reached RO 6.92 billion compared to RO 6.62 billion in Q1 2024.


At the sectoral level, agriculture and fisheries posted a robust 7.6 per cent increase, contributing RO 273.6 million. Industrial activities rose by 7 per cent, contributing RO 2.031 billion, while services grew by 3.2 per cent, reaching RO 4.617 billion.


However, oil-related activities declined by 0.4 per cent, registering RO 2.923 billion compared to RO 2.936 billion a year earlier. Crude oil production fell by 2.2 per cent to RO 2.448 billion, whereas natural gas production rose by 9.5 per cent to RO 475.3 million. — ONA
