

The Oman Film Society (OFS) celebrated its 23rd anniversary under the auspices of Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad al Busaidy, and was attended by a number of film-makers, media professionals, and those interested in cultural and artistic affairs.
The event featured the launch of films that received support under the 2024 support and production fund programme at a special ceremony.
Mohammed bin Abdullah al Ajmi, Chairman of the Oman Film Society, expressed pride in the society's achievements since its inception. He emphasised that the society was created to be a home for artists and a platform for film-makers in the Sultanate of Oman. Al Ajmi highlighted the efforts of the Society's former presidents, acknowledging their contributions to solidifying the Society's position as a significant cultural institution.
He commended the Society for winning the "Youth Excellence Award for Digital Media 2024" in the civil society institutions category.
The event featured a special screening of two films that received support in 2024 under the "Support and Production Fund" namely "Illusion" by director Issa al Subhi and "The Unknown" by directors Mohammed and Yousef al Busaidy. This event is part of the Oman Film Society's initiatives to promote local film production, support young talent and establish cinema as a soft power that reflects the community's identity and conveys its message to the world.
