Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has expressed deep concern, strong condemnation and denunciation of the escalation resulting from direct aerial bombardment carried out by the United States against sites in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Oman called for an immediate and comprehensive de-escalation, warning that the US action risks expanding the scope of the war and constitutes a grave violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, which prohibits the use of force and the infringement of national sovereignty.

The statement further stressed that countries have a legitimate right to develop nuclear programmes for peaceful purposes.
