ONA: The fifth edition of the Oman Human Resources Forum was held yesterday, June 19, in Muscat under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Hujija bint Jaifar al Said.

The forum, held under the theme “Mechanisms to Empower National Talent and Enhance Productivity,” highlighted the importance of elevating human capital as a strategic pillar for achieving growth and sustainability.

In his opening remarks, Hatem bin Hamad al Taie, Editor in Chief of al Roya, noted that the forum comes at a time of rapid technological changes that are widening the gap between traditional work models and the requirements of the digital economy. He stressed the need to reposition national talent as a central driver and architect of an empowerment vision grounded in knowledge and technology.

Al Taie said this year’s theme reflects a structured national response to the future of institutions and development. It builds on empowered human capital, supported by smart technologies and driven by agile governance and visionary leadership. He underlined the importance of viewing artificial intelligence not as a replacement for human input, but as an enabler of human performance that unlocks new potential for thinking, execution, and innovation.

This perspective is reflected in the National Talent Lab, held alongside the forum as an interactive platform to explore the challenges facing modern work environments and to develop applicable solutions. He described the lab as a qualitative step toward developing a model for future workplaces—one that reimagines performance systems, enhances national workforce capabilities, and stimulates productivity based on flexible standards, intelligent indicators, and practices adapted to the local context.

According to al Taie, the forum represents a space for dialogue and innovation, where institutional partnerships are forged, national visions are shaped, and a culture of performance and empowerment is reinforced. The forum also shed light on deeply embedded challenges that delay progress. He emphasized the need for concrete measures to eliminate bureaucracy, strengthen work ethics, instill values of dedication and integrity, and affirm work as a national responsibility.

The forum included presentations such as “Leading Change for Empowerment” by Hon. Abbas bin Ali al Humaid and “The Role of the Knowledge Economy in Empowering Human Resources” by Shamsa bint Hilal al Hujairi.

The event also featured the National Talent Lab: Empowerment and Productivity Enhancement.
