Muscat: The Environment Authority (EA) confirmed that current data indicates non-existence of any abnormal radiation levels or environmental pollutants affecting the atmosphere in the Sultanate of Oman and that the environmental situation remains stable and safe to date.

The EA urged citizens and residents to obtain information from official sources and not to believe rumors or unreliable information.

In a statement, the EA said that it is closely monitoring developments in the region related to current events, as part of its national role to follow any potential environmental impacts including radioactive contamination.

The EA stated that it is working in coordination with the relevant national authorities to monitor data issued by regional and international monitoring centres in addition to analyzing readings from the early warning system for radiation monitoring deployed across the Sultanate of Oman to ensure preparedness and appropriate response to any developments related to environmental safety.

The EA continues monitoring and technical efforts around the clock out of its responsibility to preserve the environment and ensure the safety of society and natural resources in the Sultanate of Oman.
