MUSCAT, JUNE 1

Oman has taken a significant step into the fast-growing global esports industry with the launch of its first professional gaming team, marking a new chapter in the Sultanate of Oman’s digital and youth development ambitions.

The milestone was announced during a signing ceremony hosted by Nova Esports, a newly established company aiming to develop a professional and sustainable esports ecosystem in Oman. The organisation has introduced its inaugural team of competitive gamers, who are set to represent the country in regional and international tournaments.

This move aligns with broader efforts to integrate digital technologies, empower youth, and promote alternative career paths as outlined in Oman Vision 2040.

“Oman’s youth possess immense potential, and esports provides a dynamic platform for them to excel. By offering professional training, mentorship, and global exposure, we’re not just creating players, we’re shaping future leaders in the digital economy,” said Hilal al Sinani, CEO of Nova Esports.

The company’s strategy extends beyond forming a team. It also includes the development of structured training programmes, educational workshops, and competitive gaming opportunities designed to enhance transferable skills such as teamwork, discipline, strategic thinking, and resilience—traits increasingly valued in today’s tech-driven economy.

“Youth empowerment through esports—Nova Esports is more than a gaming company; it’s a movement dedicated to empowering Oman’s next generation,” said Saba al Sinani, Deputy CEO. “Through structured training programmes, educational workshops, and competitive opportunities, Nova aims to develop professional skills, discipline, teamwork, and strategic thinking—core values of esports that translate into real-world success.”

Beyond gameplay, the initiative is envisioned as a catalyst for digital entrepreneurship. The company plans to create pathways into various roles across the esports value chain, such as shoutcasting, content creation, game development, and event management. This comprehensive approach is designed to lower barriers to entry in the digital economy and foster a pipeline of talent that can compete globally.

The organisation also aims to bridge the digital divide in Oman by offering access to modern gaming infrastructure and technical know-how. This initiative ties into national priorities such as youth engagement, digital transformation, and social innovation.

In addition to team development, Nova Esports plans to host tournaments, livestreams, and interactive events, further embedding esports culture into the local community and raising awareness about its economic and developmental potential.

The emergence of a professional esports entity in Oman underscores the country’s growing interest in positioning itself as a hub for innovation and youth-led industries. With increasing global demand for digital content, gaming and esports present both cultural and economic opportunities, particularly in the GCC region where youth demographics dominate.

Nova Esports has called on gamers, sponsors, and supporters to join its mission and contribute to building a competitive, inclusive, and future-ready gaming scene in Oman. The company views this launch as just the beginning of a longer journey to put Omani talent on the global esports map. "Together, we’ll redefine gaming in Oman, one victory at a time," the team stated.
