Kate, the Princess of Wales, has urged society to "reconnect with nature and celebrate a new dawn within our hearts" in the first of a series of social media videos celebrating the seasons. Kate narrates the inaugural film from her Mother Nature series, which showcases spring, with further videos about summer, autumn, and winter.

The release coincides with this year's Mental Health Awareness Week. In a message accompanying the video, the princess emphasizes that the "connection between humanity and nature" is even more vital as people navigate an "increasingly complex and digital world."

Nature has played an important role in Kate’s personal journey with cancer, offering her solace. She has spoken about walking and swimming outdoors during and after her treatment.

Kate has also highlighted the importance of children spending time in nature. In 2019, she co-created a wilderness “Back to Nature” garden for the Chelsea Flower Show, where her children paddled in the stream and played on a rope swing, just as the princess did.

The video features images of the Prince and Princess of Wales during their recent trip to the Isle of Mull in Scotland. The future queen states: "The natural world's capacity to inspire, nurture, and help us heal and grow is boundless and has been understood for generations." She adds that through nature, "we can truly understand the interconnectedness of all things, the importance of balance, renewal, and resilience." Connecting with nature allows us to deepen our understanding of ourselves, our environment, and one another.

She describes spring as "a season of rebirth, hope, and new beginnings." From the dark days of winter, the outside world awakens with new life, bringing optimism and anticipation of positive change. "Just as nature revives and renews, so can we," she says. "Let us reconnect with nature and celebrate a new dawn within our hearts." She concludes with the words: "Spring is here, so let’s make the most of it together."

Much of the footage shows flowers, plants, and trees from across the UK, illustrating the change of seasons from winter to spring. The couple is seen from behind with their arms around each other—likely filmed on their wedding anniversary on Mull, where a similar still photo was released.

Kate’s accompanying social media message, signed with her initials, states: "As we face the challenges of an increasingly complex and digital world, the importance of our connection with nature becomes even more significant. The Mother Nature series serves as a reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience. It honours the lessons we can learn from nature, helping us grow, and strengthening our bonds with the world and each other." — PA Media/dpa
