MUSCAT: The Majlis Ash’shura on Monday explored ways to enhance technical cooperation and knowledge exchange with experts from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, alongside discussions on shared issues, particularly those related to developing national legislation in line with international human rights standards.

Dr Ahmed bin Ali al Saadi, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Committee of the Majlis Ash’shura, praised the OHCHR’s role in supporting global human rights principles. He reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to protecting human rights within its national vision and existing laws.

On their turn, the experts expressed satisfaction with Oman’s legislation, noting its alignment with UN objectives. They also reviewed the procedures followed in discussing draft laws and proposals during Majlis sessions. — ONA
