

MUSCAT, MAY 4
Oman’s goalkeeper Younis al Owaisi delivered a crucial victory to his team as he saved El Salvador’s Elmer Robles’ spot-kick to earn a win from penalties after a 4-4 draw on Sunday in the second match of group D games at 2025 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup in Seychelles. The victory meant, Oman team players revived their hopes to advance into the knockout stage after their loss against Italy by 7-4 in the opening match on Friday. Oman will meet Brazil on Tuesday in a tight clash which will decide the winner of one of the two group’s ticket to the next phase.
At Paradise Arena in Mahe Islands, Oman team players (the runners up of AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand 2025) began the match with more focus than the previous game as Musallam al Oraimi took the lead for Oman as he scored the opening goal in an early minute of the first period. Oman’s goalie Younis al Owaisi made a super save of Jose Batres’ penalty. After few attempts, Emerson Cerna’s bicycle-kick gave the equaliser for El Salvador to made it 1-1 by the end of the first period.
In the following period, the opponent pressed hard as they managed to score second goal through BATRES while Yahya al Murkhi equalised from the penalty spot to make it 2-2. Andersson Castro returned his team El Salvador for second lead as he netted the third goal to end the second period leading by 3-2. Frank Velasquez raised the scoring gap to two goals as he registered the fourth goal for El Salvador in the beginning of third period. An outstanding show by Oman team players including Salim al Oraimi and Sami al Bulushi who broke the rivals defending line to score the third and fourth goal and send the match into extra-time which ended goalless. Oman team managed to earn the winning points from penalties as this victory kept Oman hopes alive to seal a berth in the knockout stage heading into their concluding group stage fixture against defending champions Brazil on Tuesday.
