MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman is participating in the 25th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), which will be held from May 4 to 12 in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The event will feature 240 students representing 30 Asian countries.

The Sultanate of Oman’s participation in this prestigious international scientific competition reflects its leading position in nurturing fledgling talents and promoting innovation at both regional and global levels. It also highlights the qualitative development and tangible progress the Sultanate of Oman achieved in the fields of science education, particularly physics, as well as its focus on successful national strategies for human resource development and advancing national talent.

The Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) is an annual continental physics competition targeting school students from Asia and Oceania.

Established in 2000 at the initiative of Indonesia, the competition consists of a five-hour theoretical exam and five hours of laboratory tests. Eight students from each country participate, competing for gold, silver and bronze medals or certificates of appreciation. — ONA
