Muscat: A five-day training programme titled 'Leadership Communication Skills' concluded on Thursday. Organised by the Media Training Centre at the Ministry of Information, the programme is designed to enhance the communication and leadership skills of senior officials from various government institutions and private media platforms.
The programme forms part of the Ministry’s strategy to align with international best practices in corporate communication. It aims to equip individuals with an interest in media and leadership communication — across various sectors — with the skills and tools needed to meet contemporary challenges, engage effectively with audiences and convey messages with clarity and confidence.
The training was conducted by Coach Ahmed Odeh, an international expert in public relations and corporate communication, and a consultant in image building and reputation management. Coach Odeh is widely recognised for his work in designing reputation models and developing strategic plans to assess and enhance the public image of organisations.
Throughout the week, participants engaged in a variety of sessions focused on key aspects of leadership communication.
Topics included the fundamental standards for effective communication, techniques for interacting with different segments of society and practical tools for reinforcing institutional messaging.
Coach Odeh emphasised that in an era marked by rapid technological and social change, leadership communication is a vital skill. It builds trust, enhances reputation and allows media professionals to communicate with clarity and confidence. He stressed the importance of mastering both verbal and non-verbal communication, supported by persuasive techniques such as emotional appeals, storytelling, data use and relatable examples.

“The goal of the programme,” Coach Odeh said, “is to equip participants with genuine leadership communication skills—skills that can be applied both in the workplace and in their personal lives. While some may possess these abilities naturally, they can also be learned and refined through focused training and real-world practice.”
Ahmed al Nabhani, senior Admin Specialist at the OAAAQA and one of the participants, praised the course for its hands-on approach, describing it as “practical and impactful.” He added that the sessions provided valuable insights and significantly improved his communication and leadership competence.
This initiative reflects the Ministry of Information’s commitment to developing national talent and reinforcing the leadership potential of media professionals. It also aligns with the strategic objectives of Oman Vision 2040 which prioritises effective communication and professional development across sectors.
