TEHRAN – Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stressed the need to seize the opportunity to strike a “logical and rational” deal over Iran’s nuclear program that would entail the removal of sanctions against Tehran through trust-building measures, Tasnim New Agency reported

Araqchi, who has traveled to Italy for the second round of Oman-mediated negotiations with the US, had a meeting with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani in Rome on Saturday.

Hailing Italy for making arrangements for the new round of Iran-US indirect talks in coordination with Oman, Araqchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to diplomacy.

The Iranian foreign minister also stressed the need to grasp the opportunity to reach a rational and logical agreement that would fulfill Iran’s legitimate rights, lift the cruel and illegal sanctions against Tehran, and resolve any ambiguity in Iran’s peaceful nuclear program through voluntary trust-building measures.

He reiterated Iran’s opposition to weapons of mass destruction according to its religious and national values and its defense doctrine.

The Iranian foreign minister also called on the international community and the European countries to adopt responsible stances against the Israeli regime’s genocidal crimes, law-breaking, and acts of aggression that are aimed at aggravating insecurity in the Middle East.
