

MUSCAT: Four days are only left for the third edition of GCC Beach Games 'Muscat 2025' to start in Muscat beaches as the opening ceremony will take place on Saturday in Al Qurum while the competitions will begin on the following day until April 11. Many of the GGC’s top stars and athletes in several beach sports games will lock horns to compete for various medals in different events.
As many as 450 confirmed athletes will vie for medals in eight sporting events including: beach soccer, paramotor, beach handball, beach volleyball, beach athletics, sailing, marathon swimming and equestrian (tent pegging).
The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex venue in Bausher will host beach soccer competitions from April 7 to 11 besides beach handball from April 5 to 11. Athaiba Beach will stage beach volleyball matches from April 8 to 11 and athletics events from April 8 to 10. Al Mouj Muscat will be the venue for marathon swimming events from April 9 to 11 while sailing competitions will take place at Al Hail North Beach from April 6 to 10. Paramotor events will be held from April 5 to 7 while tent pegging event will take place at Al Rahba Farm from April 8 to 10.
Rashid al Kindi, Head of Technical Committee at the GCC Beach Games 'Muscat 2025', affirmed the readiness of the organising committee for the Games. “This edition of the games will see eight sports events and all the competitions will take place in beach areas in Muscat and Barka. As many as 450 athletes from both genders will vie in eight events. Many referees and officials were registered to officiate the competition in collaboration with the local association. New advanced technology will be used to issue the results and approve the results after issuance. All the registration of the athletes are done through online system.
All competitions will be during morning and evening session except beach soccer and beach handball that will be held during the night sessions,” he said. “All venues are equipped with high safety standards and we would like to see the fans to attend and support the national teams and enjoy the competition. Volleyball and beach athletes will be in Al Hail Beach and this venue is very close to the resident area. We hope to see many audience attending the competition. There will be many accompanying activities for families and kids and we hope to see many people attending all the events in different venues,” he concluded.
