Muscat: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) has urged citizens and residents to sight the crescent of Shawwal 1446 AH today, the 29th day of Ramadhan 1446 AH, corresponding to March 29, 2025.

The Eid Al-Fitr holiday for the year 1446 AH for employees in the public and private sectors will begin on Saturday, March 29, and will end according to the following two alternatives:


If the first day of Eid falls on a Sunday, official work will resume on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.


However, if the first day of Eid falls on a Monday, official work will resume on Sunday, April 6, 2025.


The statement from the Ministry of Labour


On the occasion of the upcoming Eid AI-Fitr for the year 1446 AH, and under the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, it has been decided that the Eid holiday for employees in units of the State's Administrative Apparatus, other legal entities and workers in private sector establishments, will commence on Saturday, 29 Ramadan 1446, corresponding to March 29, 2025.


The holiday shall conclude according to the following two scenarios:


If the first day of Eid falls on Sunday, March 30, the holiday will end on Tuesday, 3rd Shawwal 1446 AH, corresponding to April 1.


Official working hours will resume on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.


If the first day of Eid falls on Monday, March 31, 2025, the holiday will end on Thursday, 4th Shawwal 1446 AH, corresponding to April 3.


Official working hours will resume on Sunday, April 6, 2025.


Work may be carried out during the specified holiday period if necessary, provided that employees are compensated under the applicable regulations.
