MUSCAT, MARCH 23

The Omani Olympic national team has qualified for the final of the Under-23 West Asia Championship after a deserved victory over the Bahrain national team, winning 2-0 in a semifinal match at the Seeb Stadium.

The match began with intense pressure from Bahrain without any early testing of the waters, and during the first half, our team was under pressure with dangerous chances for Bahrain, the most notable being a shot from Saud Ibrahim, which was saved by goalkeeper Mazen Zayed. As the match progressed, our team began to move out of their defensive areas and launched some dangerous attacks, which added some pressure on Bahrain's defence, ending the first half in a goalless draw.

In the second half, Sultan al Marzouqi opened the scoring in the 53rd minute with a powerful shot, and Turki Bait Rabia added the second goal from a corner kick in the 60th minute. Our team continued to dominate the game, while Bahrain attempted to reduce the deficit but failed to break through our strong defensive organisation. The team maintained their superiority until the final whistle, securing a vital 2-0 victory.

Jordan Qualifies for the Final with a Hard-Fought Win Over Syria Jordan secured a place in the final of the WAFF Championship with a 1-0 win over Syria in a match held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, booking a date with our national team in the final.

The match started strongly for Jordan, and Bakar Kalbouna scored the only goal of the game in the 3rd minute after following up on a cross inside the penalty area. Jordan continued to apply pressure, while Syria struggled to reach the goal of goalkeeper Murad Al Fallouji.

Syria tried to improve their performance gradually and launched several dangerous attacks, the most notable being a shot from Anas Dahan and a header that was cleared off the line by Jordan’s defence. However, all attempts were thwarted by the solid defence and the outstanding performance of the Jordanian goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Jordan wasted several chances to extend their lead, including an attempt by Ali Al Azayzeh and other shots that lacked precision. The match ended with Jordan securing a 1-0 win, earning them a spot in the final against our national team.

Saudi Arabia Beats UAE 2-0 Saudi Arabia achieved a well-deserved 2-0 victory over the UAE in a match held at the Seeb Sports Complex as part of the West Asia Championship’s fifth to eighth-place classification matches.

Hammam al Hamami opened the scoring for Saudi Arabia in the 17th minute with a powerful shot, and Mishari al Nimr added the second goal from a penalty in the 42nd minute, ending the first half with a clear Saudi lead.

The UAE tried to come back in the second half by attacking substitutions, but Saudi Arabia’s defence remained firm. Both teams continued to play with intensity until the end of the match, with no change in the score, giving the Green team a 2-0 win.

Kuwait wins 1-0 Over Lebanon. Kuwait managed to secure a 1-0 victory over Lebanon, with the only goal coming from Abdulrahman al Rashidi, giving the "Blues" the win in this match.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow, Tuesday, with the final match between our national team and the Jordanian team, while Syria and Bahrain will face off to determine third and fourth places. In the remaining positions, Saudi Arabia will play Kuwait for the fifth and sixth places, and Lebanon will meet the UAE to decide the seventh and eighth places.
