

MUSCAT: The Oman College of Management and Technology (OCMT) recently hosted Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, for an open discussions with students specializing in Computer Science and Management Information Systems.
During the meeting, Al Maawali highlighted the government's dedication to advancing the transportation, communications, and information technology sectors, considering them fundamental pillars in achieving Oman Vision 2040. He emphasized the crucial role that modern technologies play in strengthening the national economy and preparing for the future. The Minister also discussed various government policies, programmes, and initiatives aimed at supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, along with enhancing the work culture and the laws and regulations that govern this vital sector.
During the Q&A session, the students sought the Minister’s insights on a range of topics, including the future of digitalization in Oman, job market challenges, and opportunities in fields like artificial intelligence and digital transformation. Al Maawali stressed the need for students to acquire modern skills and take advantage of available training opportunities, underlining that success in the information technology sector demands dedication, persistence, and creativity.
