MUSCAT: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources on Sunday issued a decision lifting the ban on importing live animals from the Republic of Yemen.

However, the decision set strict conditions including that importers should apply for an import license before the shipment leaves Yemen. In addition, animals should be entered through the approved entrance and the veterinary authority should be informed 48 hours prior to shipment arrival.

The decision also stipulates importers of animals from Yemen to submit a report on the animal mortality rate during the journey specifying that they did not come into contact with infected animals or pass through disease outbreak areas. Importers are also required to submit a veterinary license and approved veterinary health certificates of the animals.
