Muscat: The Supreme Judicial Council has refuted claims circulating on social media that Oman has officially mandated a husband's first wife’s approval before he can marry a second wife.


In a statement, the council said that this procedure applies only in certain foreign embassies that require the first wife’s consent when attesting marriage certificates at Ministry of Justice's notary public departments.
