

MUSCAT: In a groundbreaking achievement, Oman’s Under-18 junior golf team clinched its first-ever GCC Gold Medal at the GCC Golf Championships held at the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The formidable trio of Mahir Sampat, Adam al Barwani and Pransh Jagwani led Oman to victory, securing the top podium finish with a cumulative score of 741 (Adam al Barwani: 234, Mahir Sampat: 253, Pransh Jagwani: 254), narrowly edging out Kuwait, who claimed the silver medal.
The championship saw fierce competition with all six GCC nations participating in the high-stakes, three-day tournament. The Oman team’s historic victory underscores their discipline, perseverance and exceptional talent, setting a new benchmark for junior golf in Oman.

An ecstatic Mahir Sampat reflected on the victory, stating, “Winning first place is an incredible achievement, but I know it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work, discipline and perseverance that went into every step of the way.”
The Oman team collectively expressed their gratitude, emphasising that this triumph was a shared success, saying, “This victory is not just ours; it belongs to everyone who has been a part of this journey. It is a reminder that with passion, determination and the right mindset, anything is possible.”
