MUSCAT: UK-based space company Advanced Rocket Technologies (ART) recently signed a pact with the Omani training institute Knowledge Grid Academy (KGA) aimed at boosting aerospace education and training in Oman.
In a statement, ART Chief Operating Officer Mrwan Mohey highlighted the significance of the partnership: “This collaboration with KGA marks a major step forward in our mission to make space education more accessible and practical. By leveraging ART’s technical knowledge and KGA’s strong educational infrastructure, we are ensuring that students and professionals in Oman and the GCC gain the skills needed to excel in the evolving aerospace industry. Our combined efforts will help bridge the gap between theoretical learning and hands-on experience, fostering the next generation of space professionals.”
Per the agreement, ART will provide specialised educational materials, technical content and expert instructors in aerospace sciences, in addition to offering practical training in rocketry and satellite technology. Meanwhile, KGA will oversee course delivery, which will be available both online and in person.
Furthermore, the partnership will also emphasise industry engagement. Both parties aim to actively collaborate with universities, government bodies and professional organisations to promote aerospace training and workforce development.
Space education has been identified as a key enabler of the Executive Space Policy, published in 2023, which aims to position Oman as a regional hub for the sector. Similarly, Oman’s first spaceport, Etlaq, recently unveiled an experimental rocket launching programme with the aim of developing Oman’s space launch culture before full-scale commercial operations begin in 2027.
Last month, it was announced that Advanced Rocket Technologies would launch the first rocket of the year, UNITY-1, in April.
