Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has urged companies to ensure the occupational safety and health of their workers during the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

The companies are required to monitor employee fatigue and take necessary measures to reduce it, including reducing stress in the work environment.

Employers must provide a safe and healthy work environment that suits the conditions of the month of Ramadhan, such as reducing working hours for strenuous occupations under the sun, awareness of risks and ways to prevent them, providing cold water for washing the face, and providing personal protective equipment.

Employees should protect their health during the month of Ramadhan, delay the suhoor meal, and eat foods rich in fiber and drink sufficient amounts of fluids.

Both parties should ensure flexibility in determining work shifts and not extend them, prepare first aid and emergency protocols, avoid caffeine and sugary drinks at breakfast, and inform the supervisor of any chronic diseases or medications used.
