First day of Ramadhan announced in Oman

Muscat: The first day of Ramadhan will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025.


The Main Committee for Moon Sighting met on Friday evening at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) to observe the crescent of the holy month of Ramadhan for the year 1446 AH.


Earlier, MERA called on citizens and residents across the Sultanate of Oman to participate in sighting the crescent and report any confirmed sightings to the relevant authorities. The sighting of the crescent marks the beginning of Ramadhan.

The main committee for moon sighting met on Friday, chaired by Dr. Mohammed bin Said bin Khalf an al Mamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs


The purpose of the meeting was to receive reports on the sighting of the crescent moon to determine the beginning of the month of Ramadan for this year, 1446 AH.


The committee received reports confirming the sighting of the crescent. Upon reviewing these reports, it was decided that the sighting of the crescent moon for the month of Ramadan this year, 1446 AH, is confirmed.


Therefore, Saturday will be the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan, corresponding to March 1, 2025, and on this auspicious occasion, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is honored to extend its sincere congratulations and blessings to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
