AL MUSANNAH: The College of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) — Al Musannah, in collaboration with be’ah, Oman Environmental Service Holding Company, conducted a beach cleaning activity at Al Musannah beach. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainability while encouraging students to participate actively in community services.

The Tourism and Hospitality students participated enthusiastically with the purpose of contributing to the cause of maintaining a clean coastal environment in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

The event's main objective was to emphasise the significance of sustainability and keeping coastal areas clean while fostering environmental responsibility among students. By engaging in this initiative, participants gained first-hand knowledge of the impact of pollution on marine ecosystems and learned about effective waste management and disposal methods.

The event began at 8:30 AM. Students gathered with gloves, garbage bags and cleaning tools. They diligently collected plastic waste, discarded items and other debris from the shoreline, ensuring the beach remained clean. Faculty members actively participated alongside students. They offered proper waste segregation and disposal guidance.

Throughout the morning, students engaged in teamwork and hands-on learning which reinforced their understanding of sustainability and responsible tourism. The initiative contributed to environmental preservation and instilled a greater sense of social responsibility among students. They were informed about the long-term benefits of such activities and how they contribute to the nation’s broader sustainability goals.

The beach cleaning activity concluded successfully, leaving a lasting impact on both the students and the community. The College of Economics and Business Administration, in partnership with be’ah, extended its gratitude to all faculty members, students and volunteers for their active participation. Special thanks were given to be’ah for their support and commitment to environmental sustainability. Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to contribute positively to the environment. They pledged to participate in similar initiatives in the future.
