Many studies have been conducted on the subject of social responsibility of institutions and private sector companies and its impact on the development on economic and social projects. There are many attempts to convince companies to enter into this endeavor and assume responsibility due to the need of societies for this attempt. However, some officials in the private sector believe that there is ambiguity and insufficient knowledge on the part of individuals and companies in meeting the demands of institutions in civil society, which requires the dissemination of more information and enhancing transparency in this regard.
It seems that many Arab countries have benefited from international experiences and have begun to develop methods of social responsibility, which has contributed to encouraging companies to assume their responsibility in this regard, and have succeeded in facing the challenges in carrying out their social role, whether in the Gulf region or outside.
This work is also welcomed by the Islamic religion, which urges others to cooperate, unite and help members of a society towards projects that serve people and their daily needs, whether in the field of education, health, social affairs, environmental conservation or serving other community issues. This sometimes reduces the responsibility of government institutions and accelerates the accomplishment of important matters in society by companies assuming this responsibility, especially those that benefit from the administrative and logistical work that governments build in the economic and social systems for all. In addition, the private sector institutions assuming this responsibility works to enhance the preservation of the state's financial resources and accelerates the employment of more citizens in commercial businesses in addition to enhancing the capabilities of human cadres and empowering both sexes to work in new institutions, which contributes strongly to the development of countries and eliminating some of the problems of societies.
Enhancing social responsibility in societies makes institutions partners in achievements, allows future generations to learn a lot of work, meets the needs of youth and promotes social justice among individuals, in addition to enhancing the economic development of countries and preserving the environment.
These actions have also been approved by international institutions since the first United Nations conference on environmental issues was held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, and its results were adopted by 100 countries with the aim of achieving development and sustainability in the twenty-first century, which also focus on social responsibility as one of the pillars of achieving sustainability for societies and governments.
The economic growth of countries means creating new job opportunities for young people, enhancing education and health plans, alleviating poverty, confronting environmental issues, and spreading justice among individuals, which requires the contribution of private sector institutions to social responsibility. Any success achieved by private companies in this regard will bring them more benefits and profitability, and thus achieve more prosperity and stability for society in the long term, and enhance the goals of sustainable development.
Societies should study the historical development of the concept of social responsibility in the world, and the lessons that can be learned from international experiences in various societies, and work to reduce the challenges that can result from wrong methods in this field.
All these attempts and initiatives will work to improve people's standard of living in a way that serves private institutions and companies as well as individuals in societies. This also helps in combating corruption, promoting human development, employment, and preserving the environment.
