Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has said that all units of the State's Administrative Apparatus and private sector establishments should follow official working hours for employees and workers during the holy month of Ramadhan 1446 AH:
Official Working Hours: The official working hours shall be five continuous hours per day, from 9 am to 2 pm.
Flexible Working Hours: The heads of the departments may implement a flexible working system and determine employees' attendance and departure times under the nature of the work, ensuring compliance with the stipulated number of working hours.
The flexible working hours shall be between 7 am and 3 pm, with working hours calculated based on the employee's time of arrival and departure, under the unit's established mechanism.
Remote Work: The heads of the departments may implement remote work for employees whose job nature allows it, as long as it does not disrupt workflow. In all cases, the number of employees required to be physically present at the workplace must not be less than 50 of the unit's total workforce.
The working hours for Muslim employees in private sector establishments shall be reduced to six hours per day, not exceeding 30 hours per week.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Labour encourages private sector establishments to adopt modern work practices, including flexible working hours and remote work whenever possible, to enhance productivity while maintaining a balance between work requirements and the spiritual significance of the holy month.
