Delivering lessons beyond books...

Teachers are the unrewarded heroes who shape who we are today. They were the first to awaken our dreams, inspire us to set goals and encourage us to believe in ourselves. Even before we understood what it meant to dream, our teachers introduced us to the magic behind it. For many of us, they were the first to truly care about our future and the dreams we wanted to pursue. Their frequent question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" opened up new possibilities and changed our perspective on life.

Teachers are the first ones who believe in us. They lay the foundation for our future, and without their guidance and support, many of us might have lost the way. In those early school years, teachers asked questions that helped us cultivate hope, confidence and a sense of direction. Their dedication brought our dreams closer to reality, even when we were just children. Our dreams started to take shape the moment when our teachers believed in us and inspired us to plan for our future.

At one point, each of us dreamed of becoming something different - whether it was a doctor, a police officer, a pilot, an engineer, a teacher, or a captain. These dreams started small, but grew over time. Teachers fanned the flames of our aspirations, and many of us are now living those dreams. While some may not have achieved exactly what they envisioned, they at least took the first step towards realising their goals, all thanks to the inspiration from their teachers. As the saying goes, "Where there is a will, there is a way." Thank you, dear teachers, for instilling that belief in us!

There is no denying the essential role teachers play in shaping their students' personalities and futures. As a Turkish proverb puts it, "A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others." Whether a teacher’s influence is positive or negative, they leave a lasting impact on their students' lives. For many children, their journey begins as early as five years old, in kindergarten, or six years old in first grade.

In teaching, the results of a day’s work often are not immediately visible. The true impact of a teacher's efforts can remain hidden for years - sometimes even decades. Yet, teaching is the profession that shapes all others. Every successful person has been influenced by a teacher at some point, whether in school, college, or university. Teachers initiate the lifelong journey of acquiring knowledge and gaining wisdom through all the experiences a student will encounter. Every teacher touches hearts, opens minds and shapes futures.

To all teachers, we owe you a deep debt of gratitude. You work tirelessly to nourish your students with knowledge, enlighten them with your wisdom and inspire them with your experiences. You are more than just educators; you are fathers, brothers and friends. Likewise, female teachers are mothers, sisters and friends to the girls they teach. Today, on Teacher’s Day, we honour and celebrate the unwavering commitment you show to your students. These moments of recognition are filled with both joy and appreciation for all that you do.

To all the teachers, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the care you invest in shaping minds and hearts every day. Your passion, patience and constant support are truly noticed. Thank you for not only imparting knowledge, but for believing in us, encouraging us and making a lasting difference in our lives. Your influence reaches far beyond the classroom; you shape not only minds but also hearts. Your efforts are tireless to ignite curiosity, foster growth and nurture dreams. The lives you have touched will forever carry your wisdom and kindness.
