Over 13,000 runners take part in Muscat Marathon

Muscat: The Experience Oman Muscat Marathon 2025 brought together a vibrant community of over 13,000 runners from more than 60 countries.


Under the patronage of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and organized by Sabco Sports, with Al Mouj Muscat as the Founding Partner and Host Venue, this year’s event marked its most diverse and successful edition yet.

With record-breaking participation, the marathon reaffirmed its status as a world-class running event, showcasing Oman’s rich culture, stunning landscapes, and growing prominence on the global sporting stage.


Runners of all ages and abilities competed across a variety of categories, including the highly anticipated 42 km marathon, the 21 km half marathon, 10 km, and 5 km races, the Kids’ Races, and the Ooredoo-sponsored 2.5 km Fun Run, designed to encourage inclusivity and community engagement.

The stunning race routes—set against the breathtaking backdrop of Muscat’s natural beauty—combined with an electric atmosphere and enthusiastic crowds.


This year’s edition was more than just a race—it was a testament to Oman’s growing presence on the global sports stage. The event provided a unique platform for local and international athletes to compete at the highest level, while also highlighting Oman’s capacity to host world-class sporting events.

Azzan al Busaidi, Undersecretary of Tourism at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, highlighted the event’s significant role in positioning Oman as a premier international sports and tourism destination.


“The Experience Oman Muscat Marathon is a prime example of how sports can elevate Oman’s global image. This event has successfully demonstrated our nation’s capacity to host large-scale international events while showcasing Oman’s rich culture, warm hospitality, and breathtaking landscapes. We look forward to continuing to support this event and similar initiatives as we work towards strengthening Oman’s position as a leading global hub for sports and tourism.”
