

MUSCAT: His Majesty’s Cup football championship is considered as the top domestic football event where all the local clubs are vying to clinch the prestigious title. Over the years, this major football event in the Sultanate of Oman played a key role in the development of football in the country.
In the last edition of the event, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) decided to host the final match of the coveted cup across the governorates in Oman in a step to provide the sporting and economy advantages from hosting this event.
The previous edition was hosted in the Khasab Sports Complex while this season the match will be held at Ibra Sports Complex which is one of the new sporting venues in Oman. This idea contributed positively to provide various advantages to the governorate not only at sports level but also to enhance the economy as the hotels and apartments will be occupied besides boosting businesses in various wilayats which will benefit from direct shopping and tourism activities.
Furthermore, HM Cup delivered a clear path to the local teams in terms of developing the skills of the players, coaches, referees, administration staff and uplifting their technical standard through training and preparation for matches during the whole period of the tournament. Many players in the local teams who showed top performances during the event received the chance to become important additions to the national teams.
Match referee
Oman’s international referee Omar al Yaqoobi will officiate the final match of the HM Cup between Seeb and Al Shabab which will take place on Thursday. The refereeing team will also feature Hamed al Ghafri, first assistant referee, and Mohammed al Ghazali, second assistant referee. Ali al Harthy is assigned as fourth referee while Azzan al Qutaiti as fifth referee. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be managed by Mohammed Obaid Khadim from the UAE and assisted by Yasser al Majarfi. Abdullah al Jardani will review VAR umpires and Mohammed Maflah as supervisor of match referees.
Al Sharqiyah North vibes
All the Wilayats of Al Sharqiyah North Governorate celebrated the HM Cup as the trophy tour covered all the towns of the governorate. The last destination of the tour was Wilayat of Ibra as the host of the final match. The trophy tour began on Friday in Wilayat of Al Qabil. On Sunday, the trophy reached in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi where it was warmly welcomed followed by a stop in Sinaw on Monday. Then, it went to Dima W'attayeen on Tuesday and arrived to the Wilayat of Bidiyah sands and Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid on Wednesday. The tour featured many events and activities for the fans besides it was an introductory event for the community on the anticipation of the final.
“The trophy tour idea began in Musandam Governorate and it was continued in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate. We are very impressed by the wilayats plans on receiving and welcoming the Cup. Al Sharqiyah North wilayats delivered amazing ideas where the competition will be tough for the next editions of the tour in the coming seasons,” Hilal al Badi, in charge of the tour, said.
“The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) provided a vehicle with HM Cup branding and provided through one of the sponsors. Also, the Ministry announced to do raffle draw for two vehicles during the match for the fans who will attend the final,” he ended.
