

Muscat: The Directorate-General of Khawla Hospital and Al Yusr Charity Foundation signed an agreement to finance the second phase of purchase of medical devices and surgical tools for the day care unit at Khawla Hospital with financial support worth RO 639,025.084.
The agreement was signed by Dr Rashid bin Mohammed al Alawi, Director- General of the Directorate-General of Khawla Hospital and Omar bin Mohammed al Farsi, Director-General of Al Yusr Charity Foundation.
The agreement included the provision of 162 medical devices and equipment and 7,520 surgical tools for a number of medical specialties including 21 medical devices and equipment for general surgery, 475 surgical tools, 10 medical devices and equipment for plastic surgery, 1,398 surgical tools, 84 medical devices and equipment for maxillofacial surgery, 5,529 surgical tools, 47 medical devices and equipment for obstetrics and gynecology and 118 surgical tools.
The project to purchase medical devices and surgical tools for the day care unit at Khoula Hospital is one of the initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Health to support the sector and enhance the quality of medical services.

The initiative aims to provide the latest medical equipment and advanced surgical tools with the aim of improving the quality of health services, increasing the efficiency of therapeutic and surgical procedures, and reducing waiting time.
The Directorate-General of Khawla Hospital has activated the operating rooms of the day care unit building and made optimal use of them by performing a number of surgical operations and localizing some surgical specialties at the hospital. It has endeavoured to expand the scope of operations by introducing more complex procedures and improving the quality of surgical operations by introducing new specialties, such as: ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeries, dental and jaw surgeries, and eye surgeries and urology and spine surgeries. The Directorate-General targets to perform more than 10,000 surgical operations annually to reduce waiting lists for operations and improve specialized medical services.
