MUSCAT: The Board of Directors of the Oman Company for the Development of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm SAOC, (Tatweer Duqm) has announced the appointment of Eng Abdullah bin Sulaiman al Wahaibi as the Chief Executive Officer of the company.


With over 15 years of extensive experience, Eng Abdullah al Wahaibi has held several leadership and management roles across both public and private sectors in the Sultanate of Oman. His professional background includes overseeing integrated strategic projects and contracts, managing factories and infrastructure, as well as directing energy efficiency initiatives and developing investments in the energy and other sectors.


Additionally, Eng Al l Wahaibi has served on the boards of directors and committees for various technical, academic, and industrial sectors.


Eng Al Wahaibi is a graduate of the National Leadership Development Programme for the Omani Management in the Private Sector (Etimad) at the Royal Academy of Management (RAM). He holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Power and Energy Systems Engineering from the College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University.


Notably, Eng Al Wahaibi contributed to the preparation of the National Net Zero Programme 2050 within the Carbon Management Laboratory, supervised by the Environment Authority in collaboration with the Oman 2040 Follow-up Unit and the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. This programme, which was approved by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, aims to reach Net Zero emissions by 2050.


Oman Company for the Development of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, also known as "Tatweer Duqm" is wholly owned by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ). The company was established to support and advance the Authority's operations in the Special Economic Zone in Duqm. Its key objectives include the development and management of infrastructure facilities, as well as attracting investments through project management, facilities management, and identifying economic opportunities.
