Muscat: To ensure the efficiency of labour inspections, the Ministry of Labour has assigned some duties to the Security and Safety Services Corporation from January 5, 2025.

This initiative is aimed at combating illegal and unauthorized employment while reducing the number of violations, creating job opportunities, and facilitating the employment of Omani workers.

The Inspection Unit, affiliated with Security and Safety Services, was formed in 2024 under an agreement signed with the Ministry of Labour, and plays a crucial role in conducting inspection tasks, providing security support services, and managing and operating labor care centers associated with the Ministry of Labour.

The Inspection Unit has judicial authority for some workers, granted by Royal Decree No 18/2024, enhancing the institution's ability to enforce the Labour Law and Omanisation regulations.

The unit provides security support during inspection campaigns, apprehending non-Omani workers violating the Labour Law, and managing labour care centres. The Inspection Unit currently operates in Muscat, Al Batinah North, and Dhofar, with plans to expand to other governorates.

The unit has prepared labor care centers with advanced technology and adheres to safety, health, and security standards.

The Security and Safety Institution provides training for recruits, holding specialized courses with relevant authorities.
