TRA launches field visits to monitor telecom services

Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has launched field visits to measure several indicators, including social media, signal strength and coverage, data speed, and voice service.


The plan will include visiting centers in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, and five tourist areas such as the Al Ashkhara, Harat al Aqr in Nizwa, Jabal Shams, Dhofar, and Muscat Expressway, Sur-Quriyat Road, Nizwa Ibri, Rub' al Khali, Haima, Duqm, Adam Thumrait, and Bukha, Muscat, Suhar and Duqm airports, and the industrial estates of Suhar, Sur Free Zone, and Ibri.


The team will monitor the video broadcast speed, quality, access time for the most important applications, access time for bands, and the video playback time.


In the level of signal strength and coverage, the percentage of 4G coverage and the percentage of 5G coverage will be measured.


In data speed, the speed of downloading and uploading data, response time, and in voice service, the quality of sound and the percentage of failed calls will be measured.


The field visits conducted by TRA have increased and will increase by 197 percent in 2024.
