Al Sharqiyah North ready for HM Cup final showdown

Al Sharqiyah North Governorate is all set to host His Majesty’s Cup football final on Thursday night. Ibra Sports Complex will be the venue for the concluding clash of the prestigious event which will be held on Thursday and will kick off at 7 pm under auspices of Shaikh Al Fadhl bin Mohammed al Harthy, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers.


The organising committee of the final match unveiled the latest preparations for the final match in presence of Shaikh Hamed bin Khalifa al Abri, Wali of Ibra and Vice-Chairman of the Main Committee for the Final, Shaikh Saud bin Mohammed al Hinai, Wali of Al Mudhaibi and Chairman of the Technical Committee at the Office of the Governor of Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, Hisham bin Juma al Sinani, Director-General of Sports Welfare and Development and Chairman of the Main Committee, and Mohammed al Yahmadi, Secretary-General of the Oman Football Association (OFA), and media representatives.


During the press conference, organisers affirmed the full readiness of the governorate for the final match. Hisham al Sinani said that Ibra Sports Complex is fully prepared to host the event, with coordination among various entities including the Office of the Governor of Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, key government authorities and private sector sponsors.

"Hosting the final in different governorates aligns with the government’s vision to support regional development. We value our partnership with the Office of the Governor of Al Sharqiyah North and appreciate the collaboration with both public and private sector partners who are contributing to the success of this major sporting event," Hisham said.


Shaikh Hamed bin Khalifa al Abri explained that a main organising committee for the cup final has been formed and it is chaired by the Governor of Al Sharqiyah North. Several subcommittees were established including the Technical Committee and the Public Relations Committee besides other committees which were tasked with planning the celebrations for hosting the final. “The closing ceremony will feature an artistic performance reflecting the identity and heritage of Al Sharqiyah North Governorate,” he said.


Shaikh Saud bin Mohammed al Hinai, Wali of Al Mudhaibi, highlighted that all the wilayats in the governorate are very eager to host this prestigious event. “The press conference took place in Manzafa, a historical town in Ibra. This choice of location added a cultural dimension to the event, blending Oman's sporting spirit with its rich heritage. Manzafa is known for its traditional architecture and deep historical significance, making it a perfect backdrop for such an important announcement,” he added.


“The Trophy Tour will start on Saturday in the Wilayat Al Qabil and conclude on match day in Ibra. The trophy will be displayed also at the Oman Rahala camp offering fans a chance to see it up close. A dedicated Fan Village will feature activities promoting local culture, historical heritage and traditional arts as part of the final match experience. With all preparations in place, Oman’s football fans eagerly anticipate an exciting and memorable final for His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup,” he concluded.


Mohammed al Yahmadi, Executive Director of OFA, confirmed the technical and organisational readiness for the final match. “The Video Assistant Referee 'VAR' technology will be implemented to ensure fair officiating. The umpiring team will be announced by mid of week including the referees who will be in the VAR cabin. The OFA is part of the Main Committee overseeing the venue’s readiness. The collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Governor’s Office aims to engage fans through various activities. The final match will feature several events on the sideline including workshops to train local volunteers, in partnership with 'Aoon' Volunteering Sports Team. A 'Trophy Tour' will be conducted across the governorate’s wilayats, allowing fans to celebrate the tournament,” Mohammed said.


Ibra Sports Complex is all set to shine and host the prestigious HM Cup Final. This historic event not only underscores the growing prominence of Al Sharqiyah North and Wilayat of Ibra in sports, but also highlights the cultural and infrastructural significance of Ibra as a prime venue for major tournaments.


As the capital of Al Sharqiyah North, Ibra is well-equipped to host a sporting event of this magnitude. The city boasts modern infrastructure, passionate football supporters and a deep-rooted history in Omani heritage. Hosting the HM Cup Final at Ibra Sports Complex is a testament to the city’s readiness to accommodate large-scale sporting events, further enhancing its reputation as a hub for sports and youth engagement.
