Muscat: The national airline, Oman Air, has clarified the issues regarding flight WY232 on January 9, 2025, which operated from Hyderabad to Muscat.
"During taxi, the aircraft experienced a technical issue and had to return to the bay. The maintenance team attempted to resolve the issue on-site to allow for departure, however they were unable to do so. Due to the limitations of the ground power, the air conditioning supply was not at the required level, and therefore the team acted swiftly to disembark the guests and take them back to the terminal. The entire process took approximately 2 hours 45 minutes and refreshments were offered both on the aircraft up until dis-embarkation and at the terminal," the statement said.
Given the complexity of the technical failure, a maintenance team was dispatched on the first flight from Muscat. Meanwhile, guests were offered accommodation in nearby hotels, although some chose to return home, the airline said.
"As part of standard procedures, those leaving the airport were required to complete the normal immigration formalities. All guests were rebooked on the next available flight the following day, which was 15 hours after the original flight time, or on alternative dates at their convenience,"
