Hotel revenues in Oman reach RO 243.3 million in 2024

MUSCAT: Hotels classified as three to five stars in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a 6.2% increase in revenues, reaching RO 243.356 million by the end of December 2024, compared to RO 229.256 million in December 2023, according to the latest data from the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


This growth was driven by a 3.6% rise in total hotel guests, which reached 2,145,579 by the end of 2024, up from 2,071,269 in the previous year. The overall occupancy rate also saw an improvement of 2.1%.


The statistics highlighted an increase in domestic tourism, with the number of Omani guests rising by 4.5% to 804,291. Meanwhile, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals accounted for 198,535 visitors.


Among other nationalities, Arab guests reached 103,034, reflecting a notable 10.3% increase. European visitors also grew by 4.3%, totaling 539,470 guests. The number of tourists from the Americas increased by 6.9% to 61,751, while African guests rose by 9.2% to 12,742.


Asian visitors climbed by 4.7%, totaling 311,150, whereas the number of travelers from Oceania saw a decline of 26.1%, reaching 33,052 guests.


The steady rise in hotel revenues and guest numbers aligns with Oman's efforts to strengthen its tourism sector as a key contributor to economic diversification under Oman Vision 2040. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism continues to implement promotional campaigns and participate in international tourism exhibitions to attract more visitors and investments into the sector. — ONA
