MUSCAT: Construction work has commenced on a new luxury property of the prestigious Hotel Indigo chain in the Sultanate of Oman – the latest in a string of new investments in the country’s burgeoning tourism and hospitality industry.

Hotel Indigo – part of IHG Hotels & Resorts (InterContinental Hotels Group) – is coming up at The Sustainable City Yiti, a world-scale mixed-use development promoted by the partnership of wholly Omani government-owned Omran Group and UAE-based Diamond Developers. Total investment in the City, currently in an advanced stage of development at Yiti in Muscat Governorate, is estimated at around $1 billion.

Announcing the ground-breaking on the hotel project in a recent post, well-known Omani architectural and planning consultancy Hoehler + alSalmy said: “Today was the ground breaking ceremony in Yiti for the 4-star hotel, the Indigo Hotel! Hoehler + alSalmy will be overseeing the supervision of the project. We're excited for the next phases and what's to come! Big thanks to our site supervision team for their work and being a part of today's event.”

The 4-star Hotel Indigo Sustainable City will feature 173 rooms and luxury serviced apartments. Overlooking the expanse of the Sea of Oman, the property is slated for launch in the second half of 2026.

Significantly, the new hotel will be second Hotel Indigo branded property in Oman. The brand made its debut in the Middle East last year with the launch of Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar Resort & Spa in Oman’s Al Jabal Al Akhdar mountains. The boutique hotel features 173 rooms, suites, and chalets.

Hotel Indigo will be one of two luxury hotels planned at The Sustainable City Yiti. Agreements have already been signed for the development of the Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Muscat featuring 140 hotel rooms and 30 villas with private pools. Facilities will include the beach club, three signature restaurants, three swimming pools, a spa, gym and marina.
