

Muscat: Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) celebrated the graduation of the 16th batch comprising 144 specialist physicians, on Tuesday.
The graduation ceremony also witnessed the honouring of doctors from the academic staff and resident doctors who excelled in their fields as well as graduates who made local and international achievements.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Oman Medical Specialty Board, at the Al Irfan Theater of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.









Dr Fatima bint Mohammed al Ajmiyah, CEO of Oman Medical Specialty Board, said that this graduation constitutes a gateway to a new world full of responsibilities, stressing that the graduates carry the torch of knowledge and contribute to the advancement of the healthcare system in the Sultanate of Oman. Addressing the graduates, Al Ajmiyah said: “You will enter a challenging environment, however it is teeming with opportunities for giving and humanity, so be ambassadors of goodness and knowledge. The OMSB will continue to achieve its goals and implement its educational and training plans. Since its establishment to present day, a total of 1,508 specialist doctors have graduated in specialty and fellowship programmes. Based on our vision for the future of medical education, the OMSB is participating in the preparation of the 11th five-year plan for the health sector which will commence in 2026. The plan will focus on expanding specialized programmes and enhancing the utilization of technology and artificial intelligence in advanced medical education with the aim of raising the efficiency of clinical training to ensure the graduation of medical cadres capable of keeping pace with global developments. Recognizing the importance of the digital economy in shaping the future of health sectors, we are keen on adopting initiatives aimed at building national capabilities in digital medical technologies and enhancing research and innovation in the fields of digital health in line with national strategy directed towards an economy based on knowledge and innovation.”
