

Muscat: The Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate concluded the 'Winter of Tahaim' season, with a large public turnout from various age groups and categories of visitors enjoying a unique winter atmosphere.
Organising festivals and events in different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman is aimed at enhancing the role of the governorates in the context of decentralisation, aligning with efforts to maximise the tourism sector's contribution to the national economy as part of the economic diversification policy outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
The season featured a variety of events and activities catering to different segments of society, making it a significant addition to the tourism movement in the governorate. This initiative aims to support diversity, achieve sustainability, and host activities that attract visitors to bolster local economies.
Mohammed bin Ali Akaak, Wali of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the 'Winter of Tahaim' Season, highlighted the event's objective of showcasing the tourism and environmental diversity of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan. The event also aims to promote tourism, attract investments, create recreational outlets, and generate added value for the community.
Tourism thrives in Oman during the winter season due to its geographical diversity. The tourism festivals in Oman align with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, focusing on humanizing cities, developing governorates, and sustainable investment in heritage, culture, and arts to boost the national economy.
The season included a wide range of entertainment, heritage, cultural, and sports activities, as well as specialized exhibitions and shows to ensure diversity and inclusivity. These activities aim to engage visitors and promote local businesses, including a variety of events like the International Dates and Honey Exhibition, Heritage Village, and various cultural and culinary corners.
A ccompanying events outside the main season field included camel races, the "Rahhal" race, and national championships for sand football and volleyball, showcasing the diverse range of activities available in the region.
Organising festivals across various governorates in Oman is a positive initiative to support tourism, boost the local economy, and prioritize sustainable development.
