As an innovative photographer, Haitham bin Nasser Al-Azri integrates art with heritage, passionately working to preserve Oman’s cultural legacy. Each click of his camera captures not just images but the soul of a nation steeped in history.
Among his most celebrated achievements is the launch of the “Oman’s Timeless Legacy” project, a pioneering initiative aimed at documenting over 430 archaeological and tourist sites across the Sultanate.

"The idea was born from Oman’s historical richness, where each site tells a story of ancient civilisations," Haitham shares. This project, represented through a digital encyclopedia and an interactive map, brings these stories to life, enriched by the voices of local citizens who share their memories and insights about these locations.
This initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040, emphasising that Haitham’s work goes beyond artistic expression; it serves as a cultural and economic contribution to the Sultanate. High-quality photos and videos, coupled with creative storytelling, are showcased across social media platforms, international exhibitions, and publications. "Through this endeavour, I hope to promote Oman’s profile on the global tourism map and invite visitors to explore its hidden treasures," he explains.
Oman is emerging as an exceptional destination for photographers, offering a diverse range of stunning landscapes, including majestic mountains, vast deserts, and beautiful coastlines. The country’s rich cultural heritage is showcased through its historical sites, traditional villages, and vibrant markets, providing endless opportunities for captivating images.

Photographers are drawn to Oman’s unique light, particularly during sunrise and sunset, which creates dramatic effects that enhance the beauty of their work. Engaging with local communities fosters authentic experiences, leading to heartfelt portraits that tell compelling stories.
Additionally, Oman’s variety of activities—from wildlife photography to documenting traditional festivals—ensures that there is something for every photographer. The warmth and hospitality of the Omani people further enrich the creative experience, making Oman a true paradise for photography enthusiasts eager to capture the soul of this remarkable nation.
Haitham’s passion is not confined to Oman. His Gulf photography journey reflects a desire to extend his lens across borders. "This journey allowed me to showcase the stunning landscapes and diverse cultural attractions of the region," he states. "Navigating difficult areas and enduring long hours of travel were challenges, but deeply rewarding experiences. These journeys transcend photography; they are about connecting cultures and sharing stories."
When reflecting on the elements that bring him joy and fuel his creative drive, Haitham notes, "Seeing oneself among the ranks of successful individuals inspires passion and perseverance." A pivotal moment in his career was being recognised as the first Omani photographer to earn memberships from institutions in Qatar and Kuwait. "These accolades, along with certifications from the Gulf Cooperation Council and Kuwait’s Falcon Academy, affirmed my dedication and inspired me to showcase Oman and the Gulf region to the world."
As a professional in drone photography, Haitham captures breathtaking aerial perspectives that offer new dimensions of beauty and detail. "The advantage of drone photography is the ability to reveal sites from above, showcasing intricate details previously unnoticed," he explains.
Despite his notable accomplishments, Haitham remains humble, often reflecting on transformative moments in his career.

"Being recognised as the first Omani photographer to achieve such accolades gave me the confidence to continue my work," he shares.
"It reinforced my belief that photography is more than a hobby; it’s a way to preserve history and inspire others."
Omani photographers are increasingly gaining recognition beyond their borders, thanks to a unique blend of cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and innovative storytelling.
Haitham’s work beautifully connects the past and present, blending art, history, and technology to create vivid narratives of Oman’s heritage. Through his lens, Oman’s timeless beauty finds its voice, resonating not only with locals but also captivating audiences around the world.
