How to deal with minor accidents in Oman?

Muscat: A simple or minor traffic accident is defined as an accident where the damage is limited only to vehicles, with no fatalities, human injuries, or damages to public or private property outside the parties involved.


A traffic accident is not considered simple if any of the following conditions are met:


If one of the vehicles involved belongs to a military or security entity equipped with special modifications.


If the vehicle of the at-fault party is uninsured.


If one of the parties involved does not hold a valid driving license or their license is legally suspended.


If one of the parties involved is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.


Damage to public or private property belonging to parties other than those involved in the accident.


Procedures when parties agree on the at-fault party


Remove damaged vehicles from the road.


Fill out the Simple Traffic Accident Form using the provided template and have all parties sign it.


The relevant insurance company must take the necessary actions within one week of receiving the form.

If the parties agree on one bearing repair costs or repairing their own vehicle without insurance involvement.

Each party should proceed to the police station to obtain a repair permit for their vehicles.

Notify the police station.


If any party refuses to move their vehicle off the road despite being able to, they are committing a violation for obstructing traffic.
